In KG-USA’s Achievement Ratings System, dogs progress from 1 to 6 points as they reach milestones in five categories, including Registration, Health, Conformation, Field Performance and Progeny. In Europe, it is known as a Cotation system and the FCI includes a dog’s rating on official pedigrees of all pointing dogs. To our knowledge, we are the first to utilize this system in the United States.
While it might seem difficult to understand initially, it is quite simple. To move up the point system, dogs need to accomplish everything listed in each category under the corresponding Point. Currently, we accept awards granted by five organizations: UKC, CKC, AKC, FCI, VHDF and NAVHDA.
Moving up the point system is progressively more difficult. It is easy to get a 1 Point rating. The only requirements are that a dog is registered (incl DNA) and that it has been Confirmed. Earning a 4 Point rating is very difficult, as a dog must have achieved challenging milestones in all five categories (see schedule below for specifics). 4 Points is the highest a dog may achieve on its own merits. Rising to 5 or 6 Points is based on the accomplishments of its 1st generation progeny.
We hope that you will take time to study this system. Only members’ stud dogs with a 3 Rating or higher can be listed as available for mating on our website. Soon, we will also offer Litter Announcements on the website. The rating of each litter with be the summation of its sire and dam’s rating.
Club members who would like to apply for a rating for their dogs are encouraged to contact Paula Harris ([email protected]) or Carroll Kemp ([email protected]).
